Mediation & Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), and Legal Consulting

Writing, Teaching & Speaking

We have worked separately over our entire careers and together for more than two decades to inform professionals on bankruptcy and commercial law. Both of us have extensive experience teaching in accredited law schools across the country. We have written and co-authored dozens of books and articles, which cover current developments and amendments of the UCC and Bankruptcy Code, and also provide professionals with reliable guidance on best practices in commercial and bankruptcy law. We speak at seminars and in webinars, both together and separately. Examples of such work that we have done include:

  • We co-authored “2005 Bankruptcy Reform Legislation and Analysis,” in two editions, which became the nationally-recognized manual for understanding what Congress did to the Bankruptcy Code in that year…
  • Judge Brown is the Editor and Adviser for the Academy for Consumer Bankruptcy Education, the education arm of the National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees (NACTT). The Academy provides educational programs for NACTT and maintains its website of consumer information, Considerchapter13.org…
  • Mr. Ahern serves on the Advisory Board of the St. John’s LL.M. program in Bankruptcy…
  • Judge Brown was an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Mississippi College of Law and he was a Visiting Associate Professor of Law at the University of Wyoming College of Law before becoming a bankruptcy judge. His teaching subjects were federal jurisdiction, trial practice, bankruptcy and torts…
  • Mr. Ahern is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Vanderbilt University, teaching Secured Transactions since 1998, and he has served as Visiting Professor at Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, teaching both Secured Transactions and Banking Regulation…
